The practical life materials are designed to promote order, concentration, coordination, and independence. Here are three practical life activities you can set up at home:
Gather two bowls, a spoon, and some dry rice, beans, or split peas. Fill one bowl half-way with the dry material. Have your child spoon the dry material from one bowl to the next moving from left to right.
Gather two mugs and fill one mug about half-way with water. Have your child pour the water from one mug to the next.
Fill a large plastic bowl about half-way full of water. Add a few drops of dishwashing or hand soap. Give your child a whisk and allow her/him to make bubbles. This one is great for outdoor work.
