Here are some of the things I have witnessed on our daily walks that have brought a little joy into my life:
A dad flying a kite with his son
Daffodils that seemed to have magically appeared over night
A groundhog running through someone’s yard
A big chalk heart painted in the middle of the road with the message “Stay Strong” written inside it
A neighbor’s 8-week old black lab named April running through it’s yard without a care in the world
A man on his walk who waved from across the street and asked how we were holding up. We did not even know him but he genuinely seemed to care. We have seen him many more times during these weeks and we always smile and wave hello.
A dad playing outside with his two young boys. We have seen them outside every afternoon for the past few weeks. At first we would just wave and say hello and now we strike up friendly conversations as we walk by.
Chalk messages with words of encouragement and motivation written along the road
I hope your family has also created some new daily rituals that have helped to make this time a little more joyful. It is important for us to be grateful for what we have. Many days I wake up and I feel sad, scared and very unsettled but I remind myself that we are strong and we will get through this together. Yes, times are HARD but they will get BETTER. As our neighbor wrote in her big heart in the middle of the road, we all need to STAY STRONG.
